above和up都是介系词,后面都要跟一个名词作其宾语,它们是表示地点或方向的介系词.
above表示“在……的上方”,但是不是垂直的正上方,而是斜上方的意思（垂直的正上方用over这个介系词）,并且和这个物体没有接触面,是离开物体的.从这个意义出发,above还可以表示“多于”、“高于”、“超过”等意思.如：
