最初提到为圣诞老人驾车的八只麋鹿的名字的是《圣诞前夕》的这首诗中,
　　这八只麋鹿分别叫做：
　　Dasher,Dancer,Prancer and Vixen；Come,Cupid,Donder and Blitzen（Dunder and Blixem ,Donner and Blixen）.
　　后来又在《红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫》这首著名的圣诞歌曲中出现了第九只麋鹿的名字.
　　没错,Rudolph就是传说中负责引导雪橇的,也是圣诞老人最喜欢的那只麋鹿.
　　据说剑桥医学院面试时的题目中就出现过一道是问圣诞老人的麋鹿的名字,这个问题实在是有些刁钻古怪了.

　　他们快速的移动就像是树叶被一阵强风刮过一般

　　当我正要离开窗户时,
　　我看圣诞老人从一个烟囱滑下去.
　　他穿着软毛的衣服,上面覆满了灰尘
　　他背着一个大袋子
　　看起来好像一个街头的小贩,
　　一边打开袋子,一边整理东西
　　他的眼睛闪耀着光芒,
　　而脸上的酒窝更是充满了欢乐
　　他的脸颊和鼻子都是红色的
　　他微笑的嘴是如此可爱,使我不禁咯咯笑了起来
　　他的胡子像雪一样白
　　他含着一只烟斗,烟圈绕在他的头上
　　他有一张圆脸和大大的肚子
　　每当他笑的时候,
　　他的肚子都会颤颤动起来.
　　他有一点胖而且非常开心
　　当我看到他时,禁不住笑了一会儿
　　他转过头并且向我眨眼让我知道我不需要害怕
　　他没有说任何话,只是忙着装填长袜子
　　突然间他将食指放在鼻子旁边
　　当他一点头,他就冲出了烟囱
　　他跳上雪橇并对驯鹿吹哨音
　　然后他就像叶子顺风一样飞走了
　　当他飞走时,我听到他说：
