如果but前的那个动词是实意动词do的任何形式,也就是“做”这个意思的时候,后面的动词就不需要用不定式,也就是省略to,就像上面那句：
he did nothing last sunday but repair his bike
如果but 前的那个动词不是“do”的任何形式的话,那么后面就是一个不定式,就像上面的：
i have no choice but to stay here.

to stay 是非谓动作choice的定语非宾补,而 repair =did 不存在互相修饰所以不用加to
你变的那个是不可以的。

have no choice but to...这里隐含了一个结构，即完整地说应该是have no choice to do anything but to...所以后面要有to，因为前面是choice，to和后面的部分作choice的后置定语
