Verrocchio was entrusted draw "Baptism of Christ". Time was running out, yet, he had not completed the bacckground. He refused to submit a perfunctory piece of work, bringing Leonardo Da Vinci along to draw sketches before painting in the background. However, Verrocchio fell sick after a storm. He had Da Vinci to replace him to paint the remaining portions. Da Vinci emulated his teacher's style and pondered over his intentions, finally completing the piece. the next morning, when he revealed the canvas, he had a shock. The painting was ruined by Verrocchio's older apprentices. They were jealous of the painting of the angel made in Da Vinci's impression. He felt that the situation was dire and time was a wasting. To protect his master's reputation, he made a decision on the spot to redraw the angel himself. When the teacher recovered and returned, he found the painting. He embraced Da Vinci and told him: "It's perfection makes me think devoting myself to sculpturing instead." From then on, Da Vinci rose to fame and became a famous artist of Florence.
